Family Photography at Reunion Resort: A Guide to Large & Multigenerational Family Photos
Reunion Resort is a beautiful resort and golf club in the Kissimmee area, not too far from Walt Disney World and other theme park attractions in Orlando. Since the resort has a wide variety of accommodations, it’s a great choice for large family reunions. Families can find vacation rentals that sleep up to 50 people (!!) so everyone can spend as much time as possible together while on their vacation.
I don’t know about you, but the first thing I think about when I have my family together, is to coordinate family photos. So let’s go through some common questions I get asked regarding having family photos taken while you’re on vacation at Reunion Resort in the Orlando area.
Can I hire a photographer at Reunion Resort?
Absolutely! Once you have the session booked, you’ll just need to give your photographer (hopefully me!) your vacation rental address for the front gate and share any pertinent parking information.
How many people can a photographer accommodate?
I offer a variety of family portrait options so we can choose what’s best for your group, but I accept family groups of up to 50 people.
Where are the best places at Reunion Resort to take family photos?
More often than not, the best place to take family photos at Reunion Resort is at your actual vacation rental whether that be inside the rental, on the pool deck or in the backyard. There are a few open field areas as well as a really pretty courtyard across from the main building that we can use as well. We’ve had some families who prefer
What’s the best time of day for large family photos?
This depends on your group! Are you morning people or evening people? For lighting purposes, if you’re doing photos outdoors, you’ll either want to do photos shortly after sunrise or just before sunset.
How should we coordinate our outfits?
My best advice for coordinating outfits is to select a set of colors and let everyone mix and match within that set of colors. You can see a variety of examples of this on my pinterest board: https://www.pinterest.com/dawnaiello/outfits-for-photo-shoots/
Will you help us with posing and organizing our list of photo combinations?
Of course! I’ll check in with you to find out who is attending the photos and then we’ll go from there. I prefer to start with our largest group (ex: grandparents, with their children and spouses, and then all the grandchildren) and then I try to prioritize our littlest family members in case they have a limited attention span. But I like to do grandparents with grandchildren, each immediate family with and without the grandparents and then individual photos of each of the kiddos and each couple. But I know that each family has their photo traditions so I’m always happy to add extra combinations to our list!
How long does a large family photo session take?
I have one hour and two hour options. Typically for families with less than 25 people, we can do the usual combinations in one location in under an hour. So if you’re hoping to use multiple locations, you might want to book the second hour. Any families with more than 25 people, it is advised that you book a two hour session because I can’t guarantee we’ll get to all of the different combinations in just one hour.
We’re having a party at our vacation rental. Can we combine family portraits and have you stay to photograph the party as well?
I would LOVE to do that! We can put together a custom package for you to combine your party and family photos. Just let me know what you have planned!
Is this only available at Reunion Resort?
Not staying at Reunion Resort? That’s totally ok! I’ve done photo shoots like this at a wide variety of resorts across the Orlando area! Solterra Resort and Solara Resort, specifically, have a similar setup to Reunion Resort and similar vacation rentals, but I’m happy to come to you as long as the resort permits it! If it makes things simpler for you, you can find a photographer on Airbnb and connect all of your reservations together!
