Holiday Gift Ideas - Photo Edition!
Do you have that person in your family who already has everything? Or whenever they find something they like, they buy it for themselves before you have a chance to gift it to them?
Have no fear, photos to the rescue! Photos always make a special unique gift and there are several ways to share them with friends and family for holidays!
Digital Picture Frame
My parents’ Aura digital frame, currently showing one of my photos from a trip to Japan!
I think that digital photo frames are an amazing gift, especially for grandparents or other extended family members. They are a smaller profile gift so it would easily fit in with anyone’s home or office decor plus many models have an app that allows you to easily send photos to the frame instantly. This means you don’t need to clog up your phone’s memory texting photos of your adorable kiddos to all of your family members! And since you can continue adding photos, it’s like a gift that keeps on giving all year round.
Photo Albums
If you’ve had any sort of special celebration this year, consider gifting prints or an album of photos from that event. So if you got married or had your child’s Bar or Bat Mitzvah or celebrated a special anniversary as a couple, you can make an album of photos from that event to share with extended family and even close friends! There are plenty of services like Snapfish and Shutterfly that can assist with projects like this, but check in with your photographer as well for their album and print options. I use the professional lab Millers for all of my printing, but Millers also has a consumer option called Mpix that is my go-to recommendation for folks who’d like to go a DIY route.
Large Prints
This gift might require some coordination with the recipient, but some photos just deserve to be printed in large formats and displayed in someone’s home. Depending on the style of the home, you can choose between canvases, aluminum prints, or even photos printed on ceramic tiles. You could build a collage like shown here or create a gorgeous statement piece with one single image. You could also consider thrifting really awesome vintage frames to then fill with prints to create a gallery wall!
Add Photos to Everyday Items
You can use your photos to create awesome keepsake items like mugs, blankets, ornaments, coasters, and keychains. You can use family photos for these gifts but if you have really beautiful landscape or nature photos, you can use one of those as well! It still creates a one-of-a-kind gift that your recipient will love and get to use daily!
Gift certificate
If you love all of these ideas but don’t have photos to use to create them, you can give the gift of photos! Check with your favorite photographer to see if they offer gift certificates for future photo sessions. And in case I’m your favorite photographer (aw shucks!), I can let you know that I do in fact sell gift certificates for future family portrait sessions. Just email me to place your order!
I hope these ideas help you in your shopping endeavors over the next couple of months!
